Open Call: Duo SHow
Announcing our open call for a three to four week duo show this October, ideally opening October 2nd, or possibly October 9th. We are looking for two artists who want to create a work that shows a marked progression or experimentation within their practice. At least one visual artist will be selected who may be paired with a sound artist, performance, or performative writer, so please apply with ideas in any medium.
The two selected artists will be compensated with a $350 honorarium and receive reimbursement for reasonable travel costs. All artists must commit to attending the opening and giving an artist talk or workshop later in the month.
There is no theme! We are looking for ideas and experiments that are backed by a track record of demonstrated skill and reliability. Proposal depending, we may be able to subsidize the production costs of site specific work. Given the disadvantages to these groups in the art world, we always invite BIPOC, queer, disabled, self-taught, and older artists to apply.
The space is approximately 18.3' x 12.3' or around 225 square feet with a slightly slanted ceiling, 14.5' at the highest point. We will have gallery track lighting installed soon, alongside a metal ceiling which will make any lighter hanging work fairly easy to install.
We are located less than ten minutes walking from the Salem train station, and can arrange for transportation from the station if there are any accessibility issues. Airtight Garage located on the first floor with a small ramp, and is wheelchair accessible.
